Healthcare providers
This course is a locally produced course designed to teach the skills of CPR and choking for victims of all ages, including ventilation with barrier devices, pocket masks, bag-valve-mask (BMV) devices with supplemental oxygen, and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) to all healthcare providers in both hospital and out-of-hospital settings.
Healthcare providers, including Registered nurses, paramedics, medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, doctor’s assistants, registrars, interns, medical and nursing students in training, aides, medical and nursing assistants, and other allied health personnel.
The course is also designed for anyone who is required to take a Healthcare Provider Course for employment. The course is accepted as a prerequisite for advanced courses in resuscitation, including Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Neonatal Life Support (ANLS), BLS and Local Instructor courses.
A 25-page manual ‘CPR for Professionals’ student manual is provided to each student upon registration and payment (approximately 21 days prior to the scheduled course attendance for self-directed student learning and theory assessment preparation)
Theory assessment:
obtain a score of at least 84% in the final written evaluation
Practical assessment:
For successful completion of the course, participants will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in CPR and AED use
SA Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa endorsed course completion certificate is issued to successful candidates.
