Intensive Care Unit Clinical Skills Programme

PURPOSE OF QUALIFICATION
Provide skill based training for nurses working in or aspiring to work in ICU, and which focuses on the essential skills for safe and quality nursing care.
African Institute is committed to promoting the up-skilling and competence of nurses required for specialised nursing care. Acknowledging the skill shortage in these areas the aim is to promote the skill set of nurses currently working in these areas and establish a pipeline of skilled nurses who can work safely in these areas when the need arises.
This Intensive Care Unit (ICU) skills programme is aimed at promoting the competency of nurses working in ICUs or High Care units and focuses on the specific essential skills required for safe patient care.
TARGET GROUP
Registered and enrolled nurses currently working in ICU or High Care Units. Up skilling of registered nurses needing to fulfill positions in ICUs
COURSE DURATION
2 months with 2 days a week contact sessions
Course outline: 7 interactive workshops (1 workshop per week) Clinical mentoring at the bedside
Certificate of competency (final OSCE examination)
